What I want to bring out of MalRea is the beauty that can come out of distortion and corruption. In a time when our lives feel out of our control, I want to take people out of a sense of dissonance and show other possibilities. Manipulating the minds of the people with psychedelic tv painting caused by modulated circuitry, this is the warp hole you will channel through to new beginnings.
Darius Harrison is an artist and musician based in Orlando, FL. His work utilizes analog video devices to distort and corrupt the moving image. His fascination with glitch can be traced back to childhood. As a kid, Harrison would often swipe magnets across static screens to see the tv reacting to his interactions. Harrison often creates visuals and videos for musicians and events. Malfunctioning Realities (MalRea), is a series of glitch videos that play with ideas of distortion and expectation, the familiar and the unknown.
